PLANTAR FASCIITIS (PLANTAR HEEL PAIN)
Plantar fasciitis (Plantar Heel Pain) is the most common cause of heel pain we see here at myPod Podiatry. It affects individuals from all aspects of life. It is typically experienced by people with both high and low arched feet, runners, dancers and middle aged individuals in occupations that demand long hours on their feet.
INGROWN TOENAILS
Ingrown nails occur when the edge of a nail either applies too much pressure or pierces the neighbouring skin. It is a painful condition and one of the most common issues we address as Podiatrists on a daily basis.
ACHILLES TENDINOPATHY
Achilles tendinopathy is a common cause of pain and stiffness at the back of your heel. It is an overuse injury of the achilles tendon (the tendon that attaches your calf muscle to your heel bone) and is commonly seen in sports that involve repetitive running, jumping and dodging actions such as football, netball and basketball.
VERRUCAE (PLANTAR WARTS) and SWIFT
Verrucae are small viral lesions which can cause great discomfort across the soles of your feet. They are caused by the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) which is very contagious and spread through human to human contact. As the verrucae often sit on the soles of your feet sometimes you can get a thick callus build up on top of the verrucae which make them look very similar to a standard corn.
CORNS AND CALLUS
Corns and callus are a thick build up of skin in response to increased load, friction or pressure. They can present anywhere on the foot with the most common areas under any bony prominence’s under the foot, in between the digits, on top of the knuckles of the toes and on the side of foot.
FUNGAL TOE NAILS AND PHOTODYNAMIC THERAPY (PACT)
Fungal nail infections (Onychomycosis) is a very common nail condition that can cause the nails to be thick, discoloured and fragmented. It is often preceded by an incidence of trauma to the toe(s).
